It happens that a banal runny nose, which was supposed to pass by itself in 7 days, turns into sinusitis. And then we are tormented not only by the leak from the nose, but also by congestion, fever, headaches and other delights. As a rule, for treatment in this case, the doctor will prescribe antibiotics for you.

Many want to avoid taking them, and until the situation gets out of hand, help themselves with more gentle methods. And here, a seemingly ordinary cyclamen can come to the rescue. What is it and how does it help with sinusitis? Let's find out.

What it is?

Cyclamen, also known as Dryakva or Alpine violet, is a genus of plants of the subfamily Mirsinovye family Primrose. In the wild, it is found as a perennial herb growing in the Mediterranean, East Africa, and is also found in the Crimea and the Caucasus.

Some species are used as garden and indoor plants. Cyclamen is a tuberous plant that can conquer you with its flowerswhich can be terry, simple, two-tone or fringed. At home, this plant can delight you all winter with its blooming beauty.

Attention! All types of plants are poisonous, be careful.

Does sinusitis help with inflammation?

Even in ancient times, healers noticed the beneficial properties of cyclamen, and their experience was reflected in modern pharmacology. Not the whole plant has a healing property, but only its tuber, which contains saponins and cyclamine, which is an alkaloid. Under the influence of water, cyclamine decomposes and cyclamiretin is formed, which has a therapeutic effect.

Tuber juice calms, relieves inflammation, fights bacteria and can even withstand viruses, and often a common cold starts with a viral infection and only then can the bacterial flora join (it can be found in more detail about cyclamen juice in this material). The active ingredients of the plant enhance the reflex secretion of the membranes lining the nasal cavity, which leads to the natural cleansing of the nasal passages and the restoration of breathing. All this makes cyclamen an indispensable tool in the treatment of sinusitis.

Detachable sinuses liquefy, and the decongestant effect contributes to the smooth passage of secretions from the paranasal sinuses into the nasopharynx. The drug enhances microcirculation in the mucous membranes of the sinuses and nose, due to the reflex expansion of blood vessels, which are located near the glands that secrete mucus.

This effect is achieved by the presence of a whole complex of active substances in the cyclamen extract. The drug is recommended for use in patients with acute and chronic sinusitis., as well as during the rehabilitation period after surgical interventions on the paranasal sinuses.
