How to visually enlarge a room

Almost everyone who has a small living space had to deal with the problem of visual expansion of space. As a rule, they find a way out using mirrors, choosing transforming furniture, and a light palette in interior design. But there are more ways to push the boundaries of walls and ceilings. If you use them to the maximum, then the result can exceed all expectations. We offer you a few simple tricks with which your apartment will visually seem larger.

The simplest and most effective way is to decorate the walls in pale, light shades. You can also use wallpaper with a small pattern, visually the room will become wider and higher.

If the ceiling height allows, glossy stretch ceilings can be used. This type of stretch ceiling has a mirror effect. The whole room is reflected in them, which will allow it to look much more voluminous.

If you add a large mirror to the wall in a small room, the effect will double.

Lines or patterns on the walls: transverse stripes - the ceiling becomes lower, but the walls move away from each other, longitudinal - the ceiling "rises", the walls, respectively, stretch upward.

For small rooms, you can choose a color for the floor and decorative elements in the same color scheme, and the walls should be decorated in a less bright tone.

Dimensional furniture, which will be located along the walls, it is also desirable to select similar in color to the walls, so the furniture does not attract too much attention and the room is visually smoothed.

The use of furniture (a shelf, a table), souvenirs made of glass or plastic is the best for a small space, because transparency gives a feeling of some freedom.

A fairly traditional way is the use of transforming multifunctional furniture, built-in drywall cabinets instead of ready-made headsets.

If there is a need to lengthen the room, then the flooring pattern should be located along the entire length of the floor. Today the novelty is bulk 3D floor.

You can "push" the walls and "raise" the ceiling using cold colors in the interior.

What about windows? The larger it is, the more space it seems. A good addition to a window that is not overloaded with binding lines is light tulle and air curtains on a wide cornice.

For limited space, the lighting system needs to be thought out especially carefully. Mandatory overhead lighting with a cold light is recommended. The requirement for additional light sources is to illuminate the room to the maximum, without leaving dark corners or any unlit space.

If a beam passes through the ceiling, and it is not possible to hide it, then in order not to attract attention to it, you should use the following technique: decorate the wall at the eye level with either a pattern, or a decorative strip, or a border. So you can focus on more aesthetic details of the interior of the room.

And the last, main rule: avoid cluttering the apartment. Mountains of unnecessary things will bring to naught all your efforts regarding the visual expansion of space.
