Minimalism style implies the use of simple geometric shapes and declares monotony as well as the minimum number of details and decor elements or their complete absence. What is minimalist furniture? This is, first of all, multifunctional furniture, among which there is only the most necessary, in order to ensure maximum space and free space in the room. And, of course, we must admit that this style is ideal for people who are self-sufficient creative, especially singles, whose life purpose, like their existence, is entirely and exclusively consists in work. And for a large family with small children, minimalism is completely unsuitable. Minimalism also has an unusual relaxing property, it calms and pacifies and does not bother at all, which, you see, is a lot of important.

Living room furniture

Firstly, the most necessary attributes are a sofa and a coffee table. In principle, this is all that should be ideally. But, since we are not quite ready for such a situation, and it’s just trivial to put things somewhere, which are usually not enough, it is allowed to have modular walls equipped with hidden compartments, not wide of a neutral color. Only one shelf should be open - under the TV.

There is another option - functional furniture for the living room with an equipped workstation with a computer, which is also hidden behind the doors. According to this principle, furniture can hide a whole berth or, for example, a folding tabletop. As for sofas and armchairs, there may be such options: either perfectly even geometric shapes, or semicircular. By the way, very often a sofa or chairs serve as a bright accent of the entire interior, and therefore, their color can even be bright red or green.

For the manufacture of a coffee table, glass, metal or wood is usually used - as long as it is in harmony with other pieces of furniture and with the whole situation as a whole.

Bedroom furniture

The same can be said about the bedroom - the main thing is simplicity and the presence of strict geometry in the forms. Furniture should also be deprived of decorative ornaments. It must be equipped with a hidden system for storing things: built-in wardrobes, podiums with drawers, spacious walk-in closets. Sleeping bed, no doubt, should be in the spotlight. The ideal option is a bed in the form of a tatami or platform with no headboard and canopy. If you place it on the podium, then underneath it is convenient to store things. Bedside tables should be low, without decor. Open and hinged furniture in such an interior is unacceptable. It is desirable to have a rectangular mirror without a rich frame.

Furniture for kitchen

For the kitchen, the main thing is the presence of many flat facades in furniture. High gloss is highly welcomed. Ideally, the countertop should be made exclusively of stone. The shape of the kitchen table is rectangular or round. Of the materials for kitchen sets in the style of minimalism, the following are allowed: wood, metal, stone. Additional accessories are used either in the smallest quantity or not at all. All lines should be straight and surfaces should be even.

Bathroom furniture

The bathroom in the minimalism style allows contrasts, for example, if you beat gray and red colors. Well and, of course, the availability of free space. Therefore, furniture should be minimal, as well as accessories, and it should be functional. There should also be large planes, ease of design, monochrome and sharp geometric lines. Hanging furniture will be appropriate, which helps to expand the space, although cabinets under the sink are also possible.

Minimalism style features

Do not forget that the main difference and feature of this style is the emptiness of space. In such an interior, there should be a minimum of both color combination, decor and decoration, and furniture equipment. It is on this basis that you need to design this or that room, and also, keep this in mind when buying furniture. After all, your main task is, first of all, to expand the available space as much as possible and let in a maximum of natural light.
